About PICET Group
The PICET (Paediatric/Peripartum Intensive Care Education and Training) Group is a not-for-profit organization, which was formed to create and organize Medical and Midwifery/Nursing educational events.
We aim to deliver high quality education and training opportunities. Our volunteer members originated from within the Paediatric Intensive Care unit at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide, but have now expanded to include others with common goals. All funds raised will be used to sponsor professional development activities for Nurses and Midwives.
The Department of Critical Care Medicine at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital cares for critically unwell children as well as providing the Intensive Care service for women delivering babies at the Hospital. It is also the tertiary referral centre for women and children for the whole of South Australia, and, in addition to the Northern Territory, Western Victoria & Western NSW.
A need was seen to provide education to our Medical and Nursing staff, particularly in the care of the critically ill Obstetric patient. Having found no dedicated pre-existing educational program, the PICET Group was formed, and the Obstetric Intensive Care Symposium was born.
The PICET Group also organizes the Adelaide chapter of the Paediatric BASIC (Basic Assessment and Support in Intensive Care) Course.
